The House passed two more special session budget bills Monday, but the remaining two -- which close most of state’s $1.4 billion deficit -- could be in jeopardy.
House Speaker Kirk Adams says he doesn’t yet have enough votes for SB 1002 and SB 1003, which delay $450 million payments to school districts and universities, borrow $450 million against state Lottery revenues and mortgage another $300 million worth of state buildings.
“If we were there we would’ve run the bills,” Adams said after the House adjourned for the day. “It’s a lot of debt. People have genuine concerns about debt.”
